Professor Valentine is elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society, through the Division of Biological Physics (DBIO) for her "pioneering research in the development of microrheology and the applications of biomechanics at multiple length scales to diverse biological systems."

The APS Fellowship Program was created to recognize members who have made advances in physics through original research and publication, or made significant innovative contributions in the application of physics to science and technology. Fewer than 0.5% of the Society’s regular membership is selected each year.
