The Valentine Lab was excited to host Prof. Matteo Ciccotti from ESPCI-Paris Tech in Paris, France for a visit to UC Santa Barbara. Matteo’s research focuses on soft material mechanics and fracture.

He presented a seminar on his work on “Why cutting is easier than tearing elastomers” and met with students and researchers to discuss research. It was a wonderful opportunity to continue growing scientific and cultural exchanges, as Prof. Valentine spent time at ESPCI-Paris Tech as a Fulbright Scholar in France.
